All In To Vote: Case Study
By using bold kinetic typography, this social campaign is a fresh way of encouraging newer and younger voters to make sure they use their right to vote in all elections from local to presidential.
The Challenge
The goal of this project was to create engaging animations that students and young adults would want to share on social media to remind, engage, and assist young/new voters on ways to participate in the upcoming election.

Process

Three different design approaches were originally pitched.

The first was a tactile collage style that played on the idea of the classic "I Voted" sticker while playing with other phrases associated with voting such as "Register to vote today!". This style drew from the recent resurgence of collage styles found in reemerging Y2K trends with 16-25-year-olds.
Collage
The second was a more modern direction playing off of designed kinetic typography to grab the viewer's attention to the message. This direction was clean and graphic to better suit a digital presence on Instagram.
Kinetic Type
The third direction played with the idea of screen-printed posters found in guerrilla campaigns often associated with a younger, more radical form of advertising.

Animation Passes and Experiments
After direction 2 was chosen, it was time to animate! After doing more research into looping motion posters and interesting kinetic typography, I designed and animated basic ideas for the three different looping story posts. During the original direction selection, I was asked to reconsider the color palette to better fit a patriotic theme. So, using All In To Vote's consistent gradient map treatment of their imagery, I decided on a red and blue gradient map with bold white text to stay patriotic but maintain readability.
While designing each post, I also experimented with a completely graphic direction that created a voting box out of kinetic typography. However, due to its departure from the original style, it was eventually retired.
